What does this rotation speed monitor do?

This unit converts a digital pulse or frequency input into proportional analogue output signals. It is designed for rotation speed monitoring, giving a 0…10 V voltage output and a selectable 0…20 mA or 4…20 mA current output based on the configured measuring range.

What types of input signal can it accept?

It can be used with pnp 3-wire sensors, NAMUR sensors to EN 60947-5-6, and external signal sources with pulse levels from 5 to 30 VDC. This makes it suitable for a wide range of speed sensing arrangements.

What is the measuring range?

The adjustable monitoring and setting range is 0.06 to 100000 min⁻¹, with a maximum input frequency of 150000 min⁻¹. The measuring range is set using front rotary switches so the output signal matches the required speed span.

What output signals are available?

The device provides one analogue voltage output of 0 to 10 V and one analogue current output of 0/4 to 20 mA. The current output range is selected by using the jumper on terminals 13 and 14.

How do you switch between 0 to 20 mA and 4 to 20 mA?

The current output range is changed with the link between terminals 13 and 14. With the terminals open, the output is 0 to 20 mA. With the terminals linked, the output becomes 4 to 20 mA.

What power supply does the unit require?

It uses a universal supply and can operate from 20 to 250 VAC at 40 to 70 Hz or 20 to 250 VDC. Power consumption is up to 3 W.

How is the measuring range configured?

The upper measuring range value is set with four rotary switches on the front of the unit. These switches allow the user to define the scaling point that corresponds to the maximum analogue outputs of 10 V and 20 mA.

Can it smooth unstable or fluctuating speed signals?

Yes. The unit includes an adjustable damping or averaging function. This floating average can be used to reduce the effect of small input fluctuations and provide a steadier analogue output.

What happens at very low speeds?

At speeds below 0.6 min⁻¹, the analogue outputs drop to 0 V and to either 0 mA or 4 mA depending on the selected current range. This helps define the lower end of the measurement window clearly.

Does the unit monitor the sensor circuit for faults?

Yes. When used with NAMUR sensors, it monitors for wire break and short circuit conditions. With 3-wire sensors, wire break detection is active for the supply lines.

What do the LEDs indicate?

The power LED shows operational status, with green indicating the unit is ready and red indicating a fault or invalid switch setting. A yellow LED shows the pulse input status.

Is there a pulse output available?

Yes. There is a feed-forward pulse output for transmitting the sensor switching status. This output is rated up to 14 V and 10 mA.

How is the unit mounted?

The MS25-UI can be mounted on a DIN rail to EN 60715 (NS35) or fixed to a panel. Its compact housing is suitable for control cabinet installation.

What are the physical dimensions?

The unit measures 75 x 50 x 110 mm and weighs approximately 238 g. It has an IP20 housing and uses removable terminal blocks with screw connections.

Is the device galvanically isolated?

Yes. The unit features complete galvanic isolation, with a test voltage of 2.5 kV. This is useful where signal separation is important within an automation panel.

It is rated for operation from -25 °C to +60 °C, making it suitable for a broad range of industrial indoor environments.
