This is a SIRIUS S2 three-phase soft starter designed to control the starting and stopping of AC motors. It gradually increases motor voltage, helping to reduce mechanical stress and high starting currents.
It is rated for a three-phase motor output of 30 kW at 400 V and 40 °C. It is also rated at 18.5 kW for a 230 V motor under the specified operating conditions.
The rated operating current is 63 A at an ambient temperature of 40 °C. This decreases to 58 A at 50 °C and 53 A at 60 °C.
The unit is designed for a three-phase operating voltage range of 200 to 480 V AC, with a rated operating frequency of 50 to 60 Hz.
The control circuit accepts 110 to 230 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz, as well as 110 to 230 V DC. The available control supply should be checked before installation.
Yes. The integrated bypass contact system reduces power loss after the motor has reached its operating speed. Typical power loss during operation is approximately 12 W at the rated current and 40 °C.
Yes. The 3RW4037-1BB14 includes electronic motor overload protection and intrinsic device protection. The minimum adjustable motor current setting for overload protection is 26 A.
Yes. Adjustable current limitation is included, allowing the starting characteristics to be configured to suit the connected motor and application.
No. This model does not include thermistor motor protection evaluation. If thermistor monitoring is required, a separate suitable device or a different soft starter configuration should be considered.
No. This soft starter is intended for a standard three-phase connection and is not designed for an inside-delta, or root-three, circuit.
The unit measures approximately 55 mm wide, 160 mm high and 170 mm deep. Its compact S2 frame is suitable for installation within industrial control cabinets.
Screw terminals are provided for the main power circuit and for the auxiliary and control circuits. Main conductor capacity varies according to the terminal position and conductor construction, reaching up to 35 mm² for certain stranded conductors.
The unit provides two normally open auxiliary contacts and one changeover contact. The connection arrangement includes status outputs for ON/RUN, BYPASSED and FAILURE/OVERLOAD indications.
The specified operating temperature range is -25 °C to +60 °C. Current derating begins above 40 °C, so the applicable current rating must be considered for warmer installations.
For side-by-side installation, the specified minimum clearances are 60 mm above, 30 mm to the side and 40 mm below the unit. Correct spacing helps maintain suitable ventilation.
The specified maximum installation altitude is 5,000 metres above sea level. Application conditions and any required derating should be assessed when installing at elevated altitudes.
The front of the device is rated IP20 in accordance with IEC 60529 and is finger-safe when approached vertically from the front. It should be installed inside a suitably rated enclosure for the surrounding environment.
Typical applications include pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors and other three-phase motor-driven machinery where a controlled start can reduce electrical demand and mechanical shock.
