SICK 1099969, also known as RLY3-OSSD300 from the ReLy range, is a compact industrial safety relay designed for evaluating safety sensors with OSSD outputs. It operates from a 24 V DC PELV or SELV supply and provides two safety inputs, one reset or external device monitoring input, three positively guided normally open enabling current paths, two non-safe diagnostic outputs and one non-safe test pulse output.

With SIL 3, PL e and Category 4 ratings, the RLY3-OSSD300 is suited to machinery control panels where dependable monitoring of protective devices is required. Its hard-wired configuration, front connector with spring terminals and narrow 18 mm housing make it practical for DIN rail installations with limited panel space. The unit features automatic and manual reset functions, restart interlock, sequence monitoring and EDM capability.

Key electrical characteristics include a 12 ms response time, 10 V to 230 V AC/DC switching voltage range, switching current from 10 mA to 6 A and a total current rating of 12 A. The relay is built for industrial environments, with an IP20 enclosure rating, operating temperature range of -25 °C to +55 °C and mechanical life of up to 10 million switching cycles.

What type of application is this relay designed for?

This device is designed as an evaluation unit for machinery protection systems using safety sensors with OSSD outputs. It helps process signals from compatible protective devices and provides safe enabling contacts for machine control circuits.

Which sensor output types are compatible with this relay?

It is intended for use with safety sensors that provide OSSD outputs. It has two safety inputs and monitors the signal sequence from connected devices.

What supply voltage does this device require?

The relay operates from a 24 V DC supply, with an allowable range of 16.8 V DC to 30 V DC. The supply should be PELV or SELV.

How many safe output contacts does it provide?

The RLY3-OSSD300 provides three enabling current paths with positively guided normally open contacts for integration into machine control circuits.

What is the switching capacity of the enabling contacts?

The enabling contacts can switch 10 mA to 6 A, with switching voltages from 10 V AC to 230 V AC or 10 V DC to 230 V DC. The total current rating is 12 A.

Does this relay include diagnostic outputs?

Yes. It includes two application diagnostic outputs. These are push-pull semiconductor outputs and are not intended to be used as safe outputs.

What reset options are available?

The device supports restart interlock functionality and can be configured for automatic or manual reset, depending on how the external circuit is wired.

Does it support external device monitoring?

Yes. It includes an input that can be used for either a reset pushbutton or external device monitoring, often referred to as EDM.

What safety performance ratings are specified for this relay?

The relay is rated up to SIL 3 according to IEC 61508, Category 4 and PL e according to ISO 13849-1, with a PFHD value of 1.0 x 10^-9.

What is the response time of the enabling contacts?
