SICK 1084229 (EKS36-0KF0B018A) is a compact rotary motor feedback system designed for precise absolute position feedback in servo and drive applications. Using an optical measuring principle and HIPERFACE DSL communication, it provides high-resolution single-turn position information with 18-bit resolution (262,144 steps per revolution) and a system accuracy of ±120 arcseconds, supporting stable closed-loop control for demanding motion tasks. Built for integration on motors, this EKS/EKM36 series unit features a tapered shaft design with stator coupling and supports operating speeds up to 12,000 rpm. It operates from a 7–12 V supply (recommended 8 V) with low power consumption (≤150 mA) and uses a 4-pin male connector interface for combined supply and communication. The encoder is suitable for industrial environments with an operating temperature range of –20 °C to +115 °C and IP40 enclosure rating when fitted with the matching connector and closed cover.
