The Pilz 774029 PZA 300 is a standalone 24 V DC safety relay designed for delay-on-energisation timing in industrial control circuits. It features a single-channel input, one normally open delayed safety contact and two normally closed delayed auxiliary contacts. Twelve selectable timing settings between 30 and 300 seconds allow the relay to be configured for different machine sequencing requirements.

Fixed screw terminals provide straightforward wiring connections, while the 45 mm-wide housing measures 87 mm high and 121 mm deep. Rated for an ambient temperature range of −10 °C to +55 °C, the PZA 300 offers a compact timing solution for industrial automation panels. Its contact ratings include 3 A at DC-13 with six switching cycles per minute and 4 A at AC-15.

What does this relay do?

The PZA 300 is a standalone safety relay with a delay-on energisation timer. It provides a timed switching function using one normally open safety contact and two normally closed auxiliary contacts.

What supply voltage does the relay require?

The relay requires a nominal 24 V DC supply. This version is not specified for an AC supply.

How many output contacts are provided?

There is one delayed normally open safety contact and two delayed normally closed auxiliary contacts. All three are specified with delay-on energisation operation.

Which timer settings can be selected?

The technical specification lists 12 selectable settings: 30, 40, 50, 70, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270 and 300 seconds.

Is the timing function delay-on energisation or delay-on de-energisation?

This model uses delay-on energisation. It is not specified as a delay-on de-energisation timer, so the timing behaviour should be checked against the intended control sequence.

What input wiring arrangement does the relay use?

The relay is specified for single-channel input wiring. The machine's control design should be checked to ensure that this input arrangement is appropriate.

What type of terminals does it have?

The unit has integral, fixed screw terminals for connecting the supply, input and output wiring.

How much space does the relay require?

The housing measures 45 mm wide, 87 mm high and 121 mm deep. Allow additional space in the control cabinet for wiring access and the installation clearances required by the equipment instructions.

What are the specified contact current ratings?

The maximum stated current is 4 A under the AC-15 utilisation category and 3 A under DC-13 at six switching cycles per minute. These ratings are load-category dependent and should not be treated as universal ratings for every connected load.

What ambient temperature range is specified?

The specified ambient temperature range is −10 °C to +55 °C. Check the temperature inside the control cabinet when assessing suitability.

What is the net weight of the relay?

The listed net weight of the Pilz 774029 is 255 g.

What should be checked when selecting this relay for an existing control panel?

Check the 24 V DC supply, single-channel input arrangement, delay-on energisation function, available timer settings, contact configuration and load ratings. The housing dimensions and ambient temperature limits should also match the installation requirements.

  • Providing controlled delay-on-energisation timing in industrial machinery.
