The switch amplifier is designed for use in control and instrumentation technology for the galvanic isolation of signals such as 20 mA and 10 V standard signals, or for adapting or standardizing signals. It is also used for transferring digital signals from NAMUR sensors or dry contacts from hazardous areas to non-hazardous areas.
The device itself must be installed outside of the hazardous area. However, it has intrinsically safe circuits that are used for operating intrinsically safe field devices within hazardous areas.
The device should be mounted on a 35 mm DIN mounting rail according to EN 60715 and must be installed in a controlled environment that ensures a pollution degree 2 or better. It is designed for stationary use and should be protected against mechanical hazards.
The switch amplifier can handle digital signals from NAMUR sensors or dry contacts. It is capable of lead breakage monitoring and has a reversible mode of operation.
The ambient temperature range for the device is from -25 to 60 degrees Celsius (-13 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). It should be operated within these temperature limits to ensure proper functioning.
The device provides a relay output with one changeover contact, allowing for the control of connected devices based on the input signal received from the hazardous area.
The rated voltage for the power supply is 198 to 253 V AC with a frequency range of 45 to 65 Hz. The power consumption is approximately 2.3 VA.
The switch amplifier holds an ATEX certificate with the marking II (1)GD [EEx ia] IIC for circuits in zone 0/1/2, indicating it is suitable for use in certain hazardous environments.
The device has basic insulation according to IEC 61140 between the output and power supply, and safe galvanic isolation according to EN 50020 between the input/output and input/power supply.
If the device is found to be damaged or polluted, it should not be used. It cannot be repaired or modified, and in the case of a defect, it should be replaced with an original device.
