This device is an ultrasonic sensor that detects objects by emitting high-frequency sound pulses and evaluating the returning echo. It is suitable for non-contact object detection where optical sensors may be affected by colour, surface finish or transparency.
The sensor has a sensing range of 60 mm to 2000 mm, with an adjustable range from 90 mm to 2000 mm. The first 0 mm to 60 mm is the dead band, where reliable detection should not be expected.
It provides one PNP switching output. The output can be set as normally open or normally closed, allowing the sensor behaviour to be matched to the control input requirements of the machine.
The sensor operates from a 10 V DC to 30 V DC supply. Its no-load current consumption is 50 mA or less.
The unit uses a 5-pin M12 x 1 connector. The wire colours follow EN 60947-5-2: brown for positive supply, blue for negative supply, black for switching output, white for the teach input and grey for synchronisation.
The green LED indicates power on. The yellow LED shows the switching state and flashes during teach-in functions. The red LED indicates a fault during normal operation and shows that no object is detected during teach-in.
Yes. The switching points can be set using the A1 and A2 membrane keys on the housing. They can also be taught electrically using the teach input, with A1 set via connection to the negative supply and A2 via connection to the positive supply.
The sensor can be set for switching point operation, window operation or hysteresis operation. These modes allow it to detect object presence, monitor a defined distance window or maintain a stable switching threshold with distance hysteresis.
Yes. A key feature of this sensor is the adjustable sound beam in the near range. The beam can be set to small, medium or large, helping reduce unwanted detection of nearby interfering objects.
Yes. The device includes a synchronisation input to reduce mutual interference between sensors. It can operate with external synchronisation, multiplex operation or self-synchronisation of up to five compatible sensors.
The sensor is rated for an ambient operating temperature of -25 °C to 70 °C and a storage temperature of -40 °C to 85 °C. It has an IP54 degree of protection.
Common accessories include mounting aids for FP and F42 sensors, sensor mounting brackets and 5-pin M12 female cordsets in straight or angled versions. These accessories help integrate the 133987 sensor into industrial installations.
