Upcoming Siemens product lifecycle changes

Several widely installed Siemens automation products are approaching important lifecycle milestones, including the first-generation SIMATIC S7-1200, SIMATIC HMI panels, S7-400 modules and SIMOTICS motors

Here are the key dates manufacturers need to know.

Key Siemens lifecycle dates

The headline change: SIMATIC S7-1200

The first-generation SIMATIC S7-1200 enters phase-out from 1 November 2026. [1]

The announcement affects CPUs and modules across the range, including:

  • 6ES7214-1AG40-0XB0
  • 6ES7214-1HG40-0XB0
  • 6ES7231-4HF32-0XB0
  • 6ES7221-1BH32-0XB0

Existing systems can continue operating, but the announcement marks an important stage in the product family's lifecycle.

Siemens recommends migration to SIMATIC S7-1200 Generation 2. [1] If migration isn't currently practical, identifying critical S7-1200 spares can help support existing equipment while longer-term plans are developed.

Other key Siemens lifecycle changes

SIMATIC HMI MP, TP & OP

Selected SIMATIC MP, TP and OP operator panels will be discontinued from 1 October 2026. [2]

Manufacturers operating these panels should identify critical HMIs and consider future spare and replacement requirements.

Lifecycle change: Product discontinuation (P.M490)
Effective: 1 October 2026 [2]

Central S7-400 modules

Selected Central Signal modules for the SIMATIC S7-400 platform enter Type cancellation (P.M410) from 1 October 2026. [3]

Siemens identifies ET 200SP HA as the functional replacement platform. [3]

Lifecycle change: Type cancellation (P.M410)
Effective: 1 October 2026 [3]

SIMOTICS S-1FK7

Selected migratable SIMOTICS S-1FK7 servo motors enter phase-out from 1 October 2026. [6]

Not every motor in the range is affected, making it important to check individual part numbers. Siemens has identified products within the SIMOTICS S-1FK2 and S-1FT2 ranges as potential successors. [6]

Lifecycle change: Phase-out (P.M400)
Effective: 1 October 2026 [6]

More changes to watch

SIMOTION D
Type cancellation (P.M410) from 1 October 2026. Siemens recommends migration towards the SIMATIC T-CPU platform. [4]

SINUMERIK 840D sl
Selected products will be cancelled from 1 October 2026, with SINUMERIK ONE identified as the successor platform. [7]

S7-300 & ET 200M power supplies
Selected power supplies will be cancelled from 1 October 2026. [9]

SIMOTICS-M motors
The 1PM4, 1PM6, 1PH4 and 1PH6 families reach End of Product Life on 30 September 2026. Siemens recommends the SIMOTICS-M 1PH8 range as the replacement. [8]

M200D motor starter 3RK1
The M200D motor starter enters Type cancellation (P.M410) from 1 October 2026. [5]

What should manufacturers do now?

A lifecycle announcement doesn't necessarily mean equipment needs to be replaced immediately. Instead, it provides an opportunity to plan before availability becomes a maintenance challenge.

1. CHECK
Identify whether affected Siemens products are installed across your equipment.

2. PRIORITISE
Determine which components are critical to production and could become difficult to replace.

3. PLAN
Consider whether securing spares, upgrading equipment or preparing for a phased migration is the best approach.

Not ready to migrate?

Legacy automation equipment can continue to operate reliably long after a product reaches a later lifecycle stage.
