The Beckhoff KS2602 is a two-channel relay output Bus Terminal designed for switching mains-powered devices within industrial automation systems. It features two normally open relay contacts connected to the power contacts and supports resistive, inductive and lamp loads at rated voltages up to 230 V AC or 30 V DC.

Each channel can switch up to 5 A with resistive loads or 2 A with inductive loads, while individual LEDs provide clear output status indication. The terminal requires no address or configuration settings and integrates into the process image as two digital outputs. Its pluggable wiring design simplifies installation and replacement in control cabinets, making the KS2602 suitable for operating contactors, valves, lighting circuits and other electrical loads.

What type of component is this?

The KS2602 is a two-channel relay output Bus Terminal designed to switch electrical loads within a Beckhoff automation system.

How many outputs does the terminal provide?

It provides two relay outputs, each configured as a normally open make contact connected to the power contacts.

What is the rated load voltage?

The terminal is rated for loads up to 230 V AC or 30 V DC.

What types of load can it switch?

It can switch resistive, inductive and lamp loads, subject to the specified voltage and current limits.

What is the maximum switching current per channel?

Each channel can switch up to 5 A for resistive AC or DC loads. For inductive loads, the specified switching current is up to 2 A AC or DC.

What is the minimum permitted load?

The minimum permitted load is 10 mA at 5 V DC.

Are the relay contacts potential-free?

No. On the KS2602, the relay contacts are connected to the terminal's power contacts. Applications requiring potential-free contacts should use a suitably specified alternative.

Does it indicate the output state?

Yes. A signal LED is provided for each output channel, allowing the switching state to be identified locally.

How much current does it draw from the K-bus?

Typical K-bus current consumption is 80 mA.

How much space does it occupy in the process image?

It occupies two output bits in the process image, with one bit assigned to each relay channel.

Does it require address or configuration settings?

No address or configuration setting is required for the terminal itself.

What electrical isolation does it provide?

It provides 500 V RMS electrical isolation between the K-bus and the field potential.

What is the expected relay operating life?

The minimum mechanical operating life is 20 million cycles. The minimum electrical operating life is 100,000 cycles at a load of 5 A and 30 V DC.

What are the permitted operating and storage temperatures?

The operating temperature range is 0 to +55 °C, while the storage temperature range is -25 to +85 °C.

What environmental conditions can it tolerate?

The terminal is specified for relative humidity up to 95%, provided that condensation does not occur.

What is the enclosure protection rating?

The terminal has an IP20 protection rating and is intended for installation within a suitable control enclosure.

Can it be installed in different orientations?

Yes. The specified installation position is variable, allowing flexibility when arranging the terminal assembly.

What is the approximate weight?

The terminal weighs approximately 85 g.

Is pluggable wiring used?

Yes. As a KS-series Bus Terminal, it uses pluggable wiring to simplify connection and terminal replacement within the assembly.

Can it control mains-powered equipment?

Yes. Its relay outputs can control suitable mains-powered devices operating at up to 230 V AC, provided the connected load remains within the applicable switching ratings.

  • Switching mains-powered devices within industrial automation systems
  • Controlling contactors, solenoid valves and small motors
  • Operating pumps, fans and ventilation equipment
  • Activating industrial lamps and status indicators
  • Controlling resistive heating elements
  • Switching inductive and resistive electrical loads
