The Siemens 61H F/R is a booster relay designed for high-speed pneumatic control applications, particularly where increased air volume is required for responsive valve actuator operation. Commonly used with valve positioners, it provides high-volume supply and exhaust capability while maintaining a 1:1 signal ratio for dependable pneumatic performance. The unit incorporates an integral stabilising bypass valve, allowing dynamic response to be adjusted directly at the relay body without the need for external bypass pipework. With 1/4 in NPT connections, a maximum supply and input pressure of 100 psig, and ambient operating limits from -40°C to +82.2°C, the 61H F/R is suited to demanding process instrumentation environments. Its construction includes aluminium, brass, stainless steel, Buna-N and diaphragm materials selected for instrument air service. Measuring approximately 3.375 in in diameter by 3.09 in high, this Siemens booster relay is a compact pneumatic component for improving actuator response in industrial control systems.

What type of industrial component is this?

This is a pneumatic booster relay designed to increase air volume in control applications. The Siemens 61H F/R is commonly associated with valve positioner and actuator circuits where faster pneumatic response is required.

What is a booster relay used for in a pneumatic control system?

A booster relay amplifies the air flow available to an actuator while following the input signal. It is typically used to improve actuator stroking speed and overall dynamic response in pneumatic valve control loops.

Is this relay normally used in measuring circuits?

No. This model is primarily intended for high-speed pneumatic control applications and is not normally used in measuring circuits.

What is the maximum supply pressure rating?

The maximum supply pressure is 100 psig. Pressure above this level at any connection may damage the relay, and the maximum actuator pressure should also never be exceeded.

What is the maximum input pressure rating?

The maximum input pressure is 100 psig.

What pneumatic connection size does it use?

The relay uses 1/4 inch NPT connections for its pneumatic ports.

What is the function of the integral stabilising bypass valve?

The integral stabilising bypass valve helps tune the positioner, relay and actuator circuit for improved dynamic behaviour. It removes the need for an externally piped bypass and can be adjusted with a screwdriver.

What are the flow coefficient values?

The maximum flow coefficient is Cv 0.9 for supply and Cv 1.1 for exhaust.

What operating temperature range is specified?

The specified ambient operating temperature range is -40°F to +180°F, equivalent to -40°C to +82.2°C.

What materials are used in its construction?

The relay is constructed using materials including Delrin, aluminium, brass, stainless steel, Buna-N, epoxy polyester powder coating and nickel plating. The diaphragm material is listed as nitrile on polyester for later versions, with neoprene on cotton or polyester also referenced.

What instrument air quality is recommended?

It should be used with dry, oil-free instrument air. The air stream particle size should be no larger than 3 microns, the dew point at line pressure should remain suitably below the lowest exposed system temperature, and total oil or hydrocarbon content should not exceed 1 ppm under normal operating conditions.

Does the relay require lubrication?

No lubrication is required for this relay.
