Schneider Electric TM172SIG is an M172 IIoT Secure Interface Gateway communication module for the Modicon M171/M172 range, designed to connect industrial equipment and controllers to Ethernet and serial networks with a focus on secure, standards-based communications. It supports Modbus TCP/IP and includes common network and messaging services such as HTTPS, FTPS, NTP, SMTPS, SNMP v2/v3, and MQTT over TLS, making it well suited to modern connectivity requirements in industrial environments. The module provides two parallel RJ45 Ethernet ports supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps, an RS485 interface via a removable 3-way screw connector (9600 to 115200 baud), plus USB 2.0 host (Type A) and USB 2.0 device (mini‑B) ports. It features 256 MB internal RAM and 512 MB flash memory, clear local LED indication (power and programmable user LEDs), and an IP20 protection rating for panel-mounted applications. Powered from an external supply, the TM172SIG has an 8 W power consumption and a compact form factor of 110 × 60 × 72 mm, with a weight of approximately 0.165 kg.
