The Festo 184518 is a DPA-63-10 pressure booster designed for pneumatic systems that require a higher outlet pressure than the available compressed air supply. Built with a twin-piston pressure intensifier design, it supports an input pressure range of 2 to 8 bar and provides adjustable output pressure from 4 to 10 bar, making it suitable for applications where localised pressure increase is required without raising the pressure of the entire air network.

This unit features a 63 mm piston diameter, G3/8 pneumatic connections on ports 1, 2 and 3, and preparation for a G1/8 pressure gauge. It can be mounted in any position and is designed for use with compressed air in accordance with ISO 8573-1:2010 [7:3:4]. Lubricated operation is not permitted. With a product weight of approximately 6000 g, internal thread mounting, RoHS conformity and CRC 2 corrosion resistance classification, the Festo 184518 is well suited for general industrial pneumatic pressure boosting duties in environments with moderate corrosion exposure.

What does this pressure booster do?

This unit increases compressed air pressure in a pneumatic system, helping provide a higher local outlet pressure where the main air supply is not sufficient for a specific actuator, clamp or pneumatic function.

What pressure range can it regulate?

The pressure regulation range is 4 to 10 bar, equivalent to 0.4 to 1.0 MPa or approximately 58 to 145 psi.

What inlet pressure does it require?

The required inlet pressure is 2 to 8 bar, equivalent to 0.2 to 0.8 MPa or approximately 29 to 116 psi.

What is the outlet pressure range?

The outlet pressure range is 4 to 10 bar. When the regulator spring is tensioned to its maximum setting, the maximum outlet pressure may be exceeded by up to 40%, so the application should be assessed carefully.

What type of compressed air is suitable for operation?

It is designed for compressed air in accordance with ISO 8573-1:2010 [7:3:4]. Lubricated operation is not possible for this pressure booster.

Can it be mounted in any orientation?

Yes. The specified mounting position is any orientation, giving flexibility when integrating it into a pneumatic panel or machine layout.

What pneumatic connections does it use?

The pneumatic connections for ports 1, 2 and 3 are G3/8, making it suitable for systems using matching threaded pneumatic fittings.

Is it suitable for use with a pressure gauge?

Yes. The unit is prepared for a G1/8 pressure gauge, allowing pressure indication to be added where required by the installation.

What are the temperature limits for use and storage?

Both ambient temperature and storage temperature are specified as 5 °C to 60 °C.

What is the approximate weight of the unit?

The product weight is approximately 6000 g, so mounting arrangements should account for a mass of around 6 kg.

What is the piston diameter?

The piston diameter is 63 mm. This relates to the pressure booster’s internal twin-piston design.

What corrosion resistance classification does it have?

It has corrosion resistance classification CRC 2, which is intended for environments with moderate corrosion stress.

  • Increasing compressed air pressure at specific points in pneumatic systems where the available supply pressure is too low
  • Supporting pneumatic actuators that require higher working pressure than the main air line provides
  • Boosting pressure for clamping, pressing, tensioning and holding applications in automated machinery
  • Providing localised pressure intensification without increasing pressure across the entire compressed air network
  • Supplying higher pressure air to test rigs, assembly stations and production equipment
  • Assisting pneumatic cylinders in applications requiring increased force within a compact installation area
  • Maintaining consistent pressure for machinery functions where demand varies during operation
  • Integrating into industrial automation systems that use compressed air as the operating medium
  • Supporting packaging, handling and manufacturing equipment with higher-pressure pneumatic circuits
  • Helping optimise pneumatic layouts by allowing selective pressure boosting close to the point of use
