The Schneider A9MEM1593 PowerTag Rope is a three-phase energy sensor designed for monitoring electrical consumption and circuit performance in switchboards. Part of the PowerLogic PowerTag R2000 range, it supports 3P and 3P+N networks with a maximum current of 2000 A. Its flexible sensing loops fit around cables or busbars, accommodating a closed diameter of 100 mm and allowing installation at the top or bottom of compatible equipment.

The sensor measures active, reactive and apparent energy and power, alongside current, voltage, frequency and power factor. Calculated neutral current and voltage-loss event monitoring provide additional insight into circuit conditions. Measurement data is transmitted over a 2.4 GHz radio connection to a compatible concentrator for centralised monitoring.

The A9MEM1593 provides Class 1 active energy accuracy in accordance with IEC 61557-12. Its compact DIN-rail-mounted base unit measures 105 × 18 × 67.5 mm and features removable spring terminals. Designed for indoor use, it has an IP20 protection rating and an operating temperature range of −25°C to +70°C.

What is this energy sensor used for?

The A9MEM1593 is a PowerTag Rope R2000 energy sensor designed for monitoring electrical loads in switchboards. It measures energy consumption and electrical operating conditions to assist with energy management, circuit monitoring and overload alarms.

Which electrical network configurations can it monitor?

The sensor is designed for three-phase networks, either without a neutral conductor (3P) or with a neutral conductor (3P+N).

What is the maximum current rating?

The maximum current rating is 2,000 A, with a basic current of 300 A and a starting current of 1.2 A. These ratings make it suitable for monitoring high-current distribution circuits.

Which electrical measurements are available?

The sensor measures active, reactive and apparent energy; active, reactive and apparent power; current; voltage; frequency; power factor; and internal temperature. It also provides a calculated neutral current value.

Can it measure imported and exported energy?

Yes. Active and reactive energy measurements include incoming and outgoing energy. Total and partial energy registers are available for individual phases and the three-phase total.

What operating voltages and frequencies does it accommodate?

The rated operating voltage is 100–277 V AC phase-to-neutral or 173–480 V AC phase-to-phase, with a stated tolerance of ±20%. It is designed for 50 Hz and 60 Hz networks.

How does the sensor transmit measurement data?

It uses radio communication in the 2.4–2.4835 GHz band, conforming to IEEE 802.15.4. A compatible concentrator is required to collect its measurement data.

Which concentrators are listed as compatible?

The product datasheet lists Acti9 PowerTag Link C, Acti9 PowerTag Link, Acti9 PowerTag Link HD, Harmony Hub, EcoStruxure Panel Server Universal, EcoStruxure Panel Server Advanced and PrismaSet Active.

How is the sensor installed within a switchboard?

The rope sensors can be fitted around cables or busbars at the top or bottom of the monitored equipment. The base unit uses clip-on DIN rail mounting, and the sensor cable length is 1 metre.

What are the sensor loop size and base unit dimensions?

The closed rope sensor diameter is 100 mm. The base unit measures 105 mm high, 18 mm wide and 67.5 mm deep, allowing the electronics to occupy a narrow section of DIN rail.

What measurement accuracy does it offer?

Under IEC 61557-12, the sensor provides Class 1 accuracy for active energy, active power, current and power factor. Reactive and apparent energy and power are Class 2, while voltage and frequency are Class 0.5.

Can it detect a loss of voltage?

Yes. Its event management functions include voltage-loss detection, together with the measured current at the time of voltage loss.

What environmental conditions is it designed for?

The sensor is intended for indoor use at ambient operating temperatures from −25°C to +70°C and altitudes up to 2,000 metres. Its enclosure ratings are IP20 and IK05, so it should be installed within an enclosure appropriate to the surrounding conditions.

What connections and conductor sizes does the base unit accept?

The base unit uses a removable spring terminal block. It accepts rigid conductors from 0.2–1.5 mm², stranded conductors without cable ends from 0.2–2.5 mm², and stranded conductors with cable ends from 0.25–1.5 mm². The specified stripping length is 11 mm.
