Schneider GVAN20 is a TeSys auxiliary contact block designed to add additional signalling and control points to compatible TeSys GV2 and GV3 manual motor starter/protector devices. It mounts on the left side of the starter, providing two normally open (2 NO) auxiliary contacts for functions such as run/trip status indication, interlocking, PLC input signalling, and control circuit feedback.

Rated for 48 to 690 V AC and 24 to 240 V DC, the GVAN20 offers a 6 A conventional free-air thermal current and reliable operation down to 5 mA / 17 V for low-level signalling. Screw clamp terminals accept solid or flexible conductors from 0.75 to 2.5 mm², making panel wiring straightforward. The compact dark grey module measures 9.3 mm (W) x 66 mm (D) x 89 mm (H), supporting space-efficient integration in control panels.

Part Description Schneider Electric GVAN20 is a compact 2‑NO auxiliary contact block designed to add signalling and interlocking contacts to compatible TeSys GV2/GV3 manual motor starter and protector assemblies, mounting on the left-hand side with screw-clamp wiring.

What does this auxiliary contact block do?

It adds extra signalling contacts to a compatible Schneider TeSys manual motor starter/circuit breaker, allowing you to monitor status (for example, run indication or auxiliary interlocking) via two normally-open (NO) contacts.

Which Schneider devices is it compatible with?

It is designed for use with Schneider TeSys GV manual motor starters/circuit breakers including GV2L, GV2LE, GV2ME, GV2P, GV2RT, GV3L and GV3P (per the manufacturer compatibility list).

How many contacts does it provide and what type are they?

It provides 2 x NO (normally-open) auxiliary contacts.

Where does it mount on the base device?

It mounts on the left-hand side of the compatible GV2/GV3 device.

What terminal type does it use?

It uses screw clamp terminals.

What wire sizes can be connected to the terminals?

For solid conductors, it accepts 1.0 to 2.5 mm². For flexible conductors, it accepts 0.75 to 2.5 mm² without a cable end, or 0.75 to 1.5 mm² with a cable end.

What are the rated voltages for this auxiliary contact block?

Rated operational voltage is 48 to 690 V AC and 24 to 240 V DC. Rated insulation voltage is up to 690 V (IEC 60947-1) and 600 V (UL 508 / CSA C22.2 No 14).

What is the conventional free-air thermal current rating?

The conventional free-air thermal current (Ith) is 6 A.

Can it be used for low-level signalling?

Yes. The minimum switching current is 5 mA and the minimum switching voltage is 17 V, which supports low-level control and signalling circuits when correctly applied.

What are the typical utilisation categories and switching capabilities?

It is specified for common industrial control categories such as AC-15 and DC-13. Example ratings include 720 VA at 230–240 V AC-15 and 120 W at 240 V DC-13 (electrical durability stated at 100,000 cycles under the listed conditions).

How durable is it for repeated switching?

Mechanical durability is specified at 100,000 cycles.

What are the dimensions and approximate weight?

Approximate dimensions are 89 mm (H) x 9.3 mm (W) x 66 mm (D), with a typical net weight around 0.05 kg.

What environmental conditions is it intended for?

It is intended for use in a normal industrial environment as defined by the manufacturer for this accessory range.

Does it meet common UK/EU compliance expectations?

The product is listed with UKCA certification and is described by the manufacturer as compliant with EU RoHS; it is also provided within the manufacturer’s environmental disclosure framework (including WEEE disposal requirements where applicable).

  • Adding two normally-open auxiliary signalling points to compatible TeSys GV2/GV3 manual motor starters for remote status indication
  • Providing feedback to PLC or relay logic to confirm starter actuation for basic interlocking and sequencing
  • Switching pilot lamps, beacons, or panel indicators to show motor starter ON status from the control cabinet
  • Enabling BMS/SCADA input signalling from motor protection starters in building services and plant control panels
  • Expanding available control contacts in retrofit panels where additional contact points are needed without changing the starter
  • Supporting simple permissive circuits (e.g., enabling downstream control only when the starter is engaged) in machinery control wiring
  • Creating additional monitoring points for fault-finding and commissioning by offering extra auxiliary contact terminals for test measurement
  • Standardising panel builds by using a consistent auxiliary contact block across multiple TeSys GV2/GV3 starter sizes for uniform wiring practices
