The Red Lion CUB4V000 is a compact digital panel meter from the CUB 4 series, designed for accurate DC voltage indication in industrial and automation applications. It features a clear 3½-digit LCD display with 15.2 mm high characters, making measured values easy to read from the panel. With four selectable input ranges of 199.9 mV, 1.999 V, 19.99 V and 199.9 V, the unit offers flexibility for a wide variety of voltage monitoring duties.

Built-in scaling allows the display to be adjusted for custom engineering units, while selectable decimal point settings help match the readout to the application. Screw-clamp terminals support straightforward panel wiring, and the meter is powered from a 9 to 28 VDC supply. Its sealed front bezel is suited to demanding indoor environments, and the compact housing fits a standard DIN panel cut-out, making the CUB4V000 a practical choice for panel builders, machine manufacturers and maintenance teams requiring dependable DC voltage display in a small footprint.

What does this digital panel meter do?

This unit is a miniature DC voltmeter designed to display direct current voltage values on a 3½-digit LCD. It is suited to panel-mounted indication duties where operators need a clear local reading of a DC signal.

What voltage ranges can it measure?

It offers four selectable DC input ranges: ±199.9 mV, ±1.999 V, ±19.99 V and ±199.9 V. The required range is selected by DIP switch on the rear of the unit.

Can it show engineering units instead of a direct voltage reading?

Yes. Built-in scaling allows the display to be adjusted so the measured voltage can represent another process value such as RPM, PSI or percentage. A scale DIP switch and scaling potentiometer are provided for this purpose.

What type of display does it use?

It uses a 3½-digit LCD with 0.6 inch (15.2 mm) high characters. The standard CUB4V000 version is a reflective display version rather than a backlit model.

How is the decimal point set?

The decimal point is selectable by DIP switch. The display can be configured to read in tenths, hundredths or thousandths, or with no decimal point shown if that suits the application.

What power supply does it require?

The meter is powered from 9 to 28 VDC. For the reflective version, current draw is up to 4 mA maximum.

Is the power supply isolated from the signal input?

No. The 9 to 28 VDC power circuit is not isolated from the signal circuit. Because of this, the power supply common and signal common need to be at the same voltage potential for correct measurement.

How accurate is the meter?

For DC voltage measurement, the stated accuracy is ±(0.1% + 1 digit) at 23°C and less than 85% relative humidity.

What happens if the input goes over range?

An overrange condition is indicated by a “1” in the most significant digit while the remaining three digits are blanked. Maximum input limits should still be observed to avoid damaging the unit.

What is the input impedance?

The voltmeter input impedance is 1 MΩ, which is suitable for many general DC measurement applications where circuit loading needs to be kept low.

How quickly does the display update?

The meter updates at 2.5 readings per second, with a response time of 1.5 seconds to settle following a step change.

What panel cut-out does it fit?

It is designed to fit a DIN standard cut-out of 68 mm x 33 mm. This makes it a practical option for compact control panels and instrument enclosures.

Is the front of the unit sealed for industrial panels?

Yes. When properly installed, the front bezel is rated NEMA 4X and IP65, helping it suit enclosed indoor panel applications where dust or wash-down resistance at the face is required.

What are the operating environmental limits?

The stated operating temperature range is 0°C to 60°C, with storage from -40°C to 80°C. Maximum relative humidity is 85% non-condensing.

Where is this meter commonly used?

Typical uses include monitoring DC process signals, replacing older analogue indicators, showing transducer outputs and providing local voltage indication on machinery or control panels. The CUB4V000 is especially useful where a compact front-panel display is needed.

  • Displaying DC voltage levels on industrial control panels and operator stations
  • Monitoring analogue output signals from transducers, sensors and instrumentation loops
  • Showing process values such as pressure, speed, level or temperature when a DC signal is scaled to engineering units
  • Replacing older panel-mounted analogue voltmeters with a compact digital readout
  • Providing local voltage indication on machinery, test rigs and production equipment
  • Reading tachogenerator or drive feedback signals on DC motor applications
  • Indicating battery, power supply or control circuit voltage within equipment enclosures
  • Presenting clear numeric values for commissioning, fault-finding and routine plant checks
  • Integrating into OEM panels where a small-format digital panel meter is required
  • Supporting general automation applications that need a simple front-panel DC voltmeter display
