What is this sensor used for?

The SICK 1058126, also designated OLM200-1009, is an optical linear measurement sensor for determining position along a barcode tape. It provides position and speed information for automated equipment moving along a defined route.

How does the sensor measure position?

The sensor uses red LED illumination to read barcode tape installed along the travel path. Position information is communicated to the connected control system via PROFINET.

What is the maximum measuring range?

The specified measuring range is 0 to 10,000 metres. The usable range depends on the selected resolution and transfer protocol. This describes the position range along the barcode tape, not the distance between the sensor and the tape.

What reading distance is required?

The nominal reading distance is 100 mm, with a permitted variation of ±20 mm. The sensor should therefore be positioned between 80 mm and 120 mm from the barcode tape.

Which measurement resolutions are available?

The sensor requires an 18–30 V DC supply and consumes less than 5.5 W. It includes reverse-polarity protection. Supply ripple must not exceed 5 V peak-to-peak, and the voltage must remain within the specified supply limits.

The OLM200-1009 supports PROFINET and has two four-pin M12 female Ethernet connectors. A separate five-pin M12 connector provides the power and multifunction signal connections.

The operating temperature range is −30 °C to +60 °C. At temperatures below −20 °C, a five-minute warm-up period is required. The storage temperature range is −40 °C to +75 °C, with a maximum relative humidity of 95%, non-condensing.

What enclosure protection does the sensor provide?

The sensor is rated IP65, providing protection against dust ingress and water jets under the applicable test conditions. Its electrical protection class is III.

What barcode tape is required?

The sensor is specified for barcode tape with a barcode width of 30 mm. Recommended tape options include heights of 25, 30, 40, 60 and 100 mm, with customer-specific measuring ranges. Tape selection should match the travel route and installation requirements.

What mounting features are provided?
