The Omron G9SX-SM032-RC is a standstill monitoring unit designed to detect when two- or three-phase AC induction motors have stopped by measuring their back electromotive force (BEMF). What is the main function of this unit?

This unit monitors when an AC induction motor has stopped by measuring the motor's back electromotive force. Once standstill is detected, it activates outputs that can be used within a machine-guard locking system.

Does the unit require an external speed sensor?

No. The G9SX-SM032-RC provides sensorless standstill monitoring, using voltage signals from the motor rather than an encoder, proximity sensor or other external speed-detection device.

What type of motor can be monitored?

The unit is intended for two-phase or three-phase AC induction motor systems. It is not designed for connection to servo motors.

What supply voltage does the unit require?

The unit requires a rated control supply of 24 V DC. Its specified operating range is from 15% below to 10% above the rated voltage.

What motor voltage can the monitoring inputs accept?

Can the standstill detection settings be adjusted?

Yes. Standard Configuration provides immediate operation without sensitivity adjustment, while User Configuration allows the standstill determining time to be set from 1 to 30 seconds.

What is the difference between Tuning Mode and Monitoring Mode?

Tuning Mode is used to establish an appropriate standstill determining time for the machine. Monitoring Mode is used for normal operation after that value has been selected. The standstill detection outputs are not enabled as operational outputs while Tuning Mode is active.

What do the front indicators show?

The front LEDs indicate power, external device monitoring status, the condition of both standstill detection channels, output state, configuration status and detected errors. This provides clear visual information during commissioning and fault investigation.

Can it be used with star-delta motor wiring?

Yes. The G9SX-SM032-RC can be integrated into both conventional three-phase motor circuits and star-delta arrangements, provided the monitoring inputs and external devices are connected correctly.

Can the outputs directly operate motor contactors?

No. The standstill detection outputs are intended for controlling a mechanically locked guard-door switch. They must not be used directly to drive contactors or a solenoid-locking guard switch.

What mounting method is required?

The unit is designed for DIN-rail mounting inside an enclosure. Omron specifies at least 25 mm clearance at each side and at least 50 mm above and below the unit for ventilation and wiring.

What environmental conditions are specified?

The stated operating temperature range is -10°C to +55°C, without icing or condensation, and the permitted relative humidity range is 25% to 85%. The main body is rated IP40 and the terminal block IP20, so installation within a suitable enclosure is required.
