The Siemens 3LD2203-3VK51 is a SENTRON 3LD six-pole switch disconnector designed for use as a main, isolation or maintenance switch in industrial electrical installations. It has a rated uninterrupted current of 32 A and supports an operating power of 11.5 kW at 400 V under AC-23A conditions.

This fixed, front-mounted unit features a black rotary actuator with clear 1 ON and 0 OFF position indication. Its four-hole mounting arrangement enables secure installation in control panels and equipment enclosures, while the front offers IP65 protection against dust and water ingress. The actuator can be locked in the OFF position using up to three padlocks with 4–8 mm hasps.

With a rated insulation voltage of 690 V, a 6 kV impulse withstand rating and an operating temperature range of -25°C to +55°C, the 3LD2203-3VK51 is suitable for demanding industrial environments. Its compact dimensions of 83 × 67 × 92.5 mm help conserve panel space, and box terminals accommodate copper conductors up to 16 mm².

What type of electrical component is this?

It is a Siemens SENTRON 3LD switch disconnector designed to operate as a main switch. It provides manual isolation using a front-mounted black rotary handle.

How many poles does the switch have?

The switch has six poles, allowing it to disconnect six conductors through one operating mechanism.

What is the rated operating current?

The Siemens 3LD2203-3VK51 has a rated operating current of 32 A.

What operating voltage can it handle?

It is rated for AC operating voltages up to 690 V at a frequency of 50 to 60 Hz. Its rated insulation voltage is also 690 V.

What is its motor switching capacity at 400 V?

The rated operating power is 11.5 kW under AC-23A conditions at 400 V. Under AC-3 conditions at 400 V, later Siemens data lists a rating of 10 kW.

How is the switch mounted?

It is a fixed, front-mounted unit with four-hole handle mounting. It is not intended for rail mounting or central-fixing installation.

What type of operating handle is fitted?

The unit uses a short black rotary knob with clearly defined 1 ON and 0 OFF positions.

Can the switch be locked in the OFF position?

Yes. The operating mechanism can be locked in the OFF position using up to three padlocks with hasp thicknesses between 4 mm and 8 mm.

What ingress protection rating does it have?

The switch has an IP65 front protection rating. It is also listed with NEMA enclosure ratings 1, 3R, 4X and 12 when installed in the appropriate arrangement.

What are the unit's dimensions and weight?

The unit measures approximately 83 mm high, 67 mm wide and 92.5 mm deep. Its net weight is approximately 373 g.

What ambient temperature range is specified?

The specified operating temperature range is -25 °C to +55 °C.

What conductor sizes can be connected to the main terminals?

The main box terminals accept solid or stranded copper conductors from 1.5 mm² to 16 mm². Finely stranded conductors with prepared ends can be used from 1.5 mm² to 10 mm².

Does the unit include auxiliary contacts?

No auxiliary contacts are included as standard. The design permits the addition of up to two normally closed and four normally open auxiliary contacts.

What fuse rating is specified for the main circuit?

A 40 A gL/gG fuse is specified for short-circuit protection of the main circuit. If optional auxiliary contacts are fitted, a 10 A gL/gG fuse is specified for that circuit.

What is the expected mechanical operating life?

The typical mechanical endurance is 100,000 switching operations. Electrical endurance under AC-23A conditions at 690 V is listed as 6,000 operations.

Can it be used as an emergency-off switch?

No. This configuration is intended for use as a main switch, switch disconnector or maintenance isolation switch, but it is not designated as an emergency-off switch.

Does it have a motorised operating mechanism?

No. The switch is manually operated and is not designed for a motor drive or voltage release.

What is the maximum recommended switching frequency?

The specified maximum operating frequency is 50 switching operations per hour.
