Siemens 5SV1313-7KK06 is a SENTRON compact RCBO (residual current circuit breaker with overload protection) designed to combine residual current protection and overcurrent/short-circuit protection within a single, space-saving device. It is a 1P+N unit with a C-curve tripping characteristic and a rated current of 6 A, with Type A residual current sensitivity at 30 mA for applications where pulsating DC fault currents may occur.

Built for standard 230 V AC, 50 Hz installations, it provides a rated short-circuit breaking capacity of 4.5 kA to EN 61009-1 (and 4.5 kA to EN 60898, 5 kA to IEC 60947-2), helping protect final circuits in residential and commercial distribution boards. The unit occupies just one modular width (18 mm) and supports supply connection from either the top or bottom, making it well suited to compact panel layouts and straightforward retrofits.

Practical installation features include neutral conductor switching, touch protection, and screw terminals accommodating solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 16 mm² (fine-stranded with ferrules up to 10 mm²). The device is halogen-free and silicon-free, rated for pollution degree 2 and overvoltage category III, with an IP20 protection class when installed in a distribution board with connected conductors.

What type of protective device is this?

It is a compact RCBO (Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent protection). It combines residual-current (RCD) protection with miniature circuit breaker (MCB) protection in one device, helping protect against earth leakage, overloads and short-circuits.

What does 1P+N mean on this RCBO?

1P+N means the device switches and isolates both the live (phase) and neutral conductors, with overcurrent protection applied to the live pole. Neutral switching is included.

What are the key electrical ratings?

Rated operational voltage is 230 V AC at 50 Hz. The rated current is 6 A with a C tripping characteristic, and the rated residual operating current is 30 mA (Type A).

What does a C-curve tripping characteristic mean in practice?

A C characteristic is typically chosen where short, higher inrush currents are expected compared to B-curve devices. It reduces nuisance tripping during normal start-up currents while still providing overcurrent protection.

What is residual current Type A, and when is it used?

Type A residual-current protection detects both AC residual currents and pulsating DC residual currents. It is commonly used on circuits with modern electronic loads that may create pulsating DC leakage.

What is the short-circuit breaking capacity?

The rated short-circuit breaking capacity is 4.5 kA (Icn) to EN 61009-1. It is also listed as 4.5 kA to EN 60898 and 5 kA to IEC 60947-2.

What are the physical dimensions and how much DIN-rail space does it take?

It is designed for 1 modular width (18 mm). Typical dimensions are 90 mm (height), 18 mm (width) and 77 mm (depth), with an installation depth of around 70 mm.

What cable sizes can be connected to the terminals?

Connectable conductor cross-sections are 0.75 to 16 mm² for solid and stranded conductors, and 0.75 to 10 mm² for finely stranded conductors with suitable end processing. Screw terminal tightening torque is typically 1.2 to 2 N·m.

Can the supply be connected from the top or bottom?

Yes. The power supply connection can be made either from the top or the bottom, which can simplify panel layout depending on the distribution board design.

How does ambient temperature affect the usable current?

The nominal current is 6 A at 30 °C. As ambient temperature rises, the usable continuous current derates (for example, approximately 5.64 A at 40 °C and 4.44 A at 70 °C).

What ingress protection does the device provide once installed?

When fitted in a distribution board with connected conductors, it is rated IP20, providing touch protection against finger access to live parts under normal installation conditions.

Are there any material or design features relevant to panel build standards?

Yes. This RCBO includes touch protection features and is specified as halogen-free and silicon-free, which may be beneficial where panel material requirements or contamination considerations apply. The Siemens reference for this configuration is 5SV1313-7KK06.

  • Combined overcurrent and residual-current protection for final circuits in compact consumer units and distribution boards
  • Protection of 230 V single-phase socket-outlet circuits where 30 mA residual-current protection is specified
  • Lighting circuit protection using a C-curve 6 A device for circuits with higher inrush (for example, certain LED drivers)
  • Dedicated circuits for small appliances and utility loads requiring both short-circuit/overload protection and earth-leakage protection
  • Circuits supplying equipment with electronic power supplies where Type A residual-current detection is preferred (pulsating DC components)
  • Space-constrained panel builds and refurbishments where a 1-module-width RCBO helps maximise ways within the enclosure
  • Segmented protection of individual circuits to reduce nuisance tripping across multiple outgoing ways compared with shared upstream RCD arrangements
  • Use in residential and light commercial installations for targeted protection of specific rooms or areas (for example, kitchens, bathrooms, outbuildings)
  • Replacement of like-for-like SENTRON RCBO devices in maintenance of existing low-voltage installations using Siemens compact form factor
  • New-build electrical fit-outs where individual circuit protection and straightforward circuit identification are required within the distribution board
