The Murr Elektronik 51140 (RMMD-2A/24VDC) is a slim DIN-rail input relay module designed for reliable signal isolation and switching in 24 VDC control circuits. It features a 24 VDC coil (19.2–30 VDC operating range) with low current consumption (15 mA) and provides two normally open contacts rated up to 2 A with switching capability up to 250 VAC/DC. Screw terminal connections enable straightforward panel wiring, while a yellow LED status indicator offers clear visual feedback of relay energization. The compact housing (82 × 12 × 68 mm) clips onto TH35 or G32 rails (EN 60715) and supports fast response and release times (up to 10 ms) for general automation interfacing. Supplied with a negative bridging jumper plug for efficient commoning in grouped installations.

What does this input relay do in a control panel?

It provides electrical isolation between a 24 VDC control signal (coil/input) and a switched load on the output contacts, allowing a low-power control circuit to switch higher-voltage or higher-current circuits.

What input (coil) voltage is required?

The coil is rated for 24 VDC. The permissible input range is 19.2 to 30 VDC, with a typical input current of 15 mA.

What is the maximum switching voltage and current on the output?

The output contacts can switch up to 250 VAC or 250 VDC, with a maximum switching current of 2 A (load-dependent).

What type and number of output contacts are provided?

It is a single relay with two normally open (NO) contacts.

Is there a status indicator on the relay module?

Yes. A yellow LED indicates the relay coil/status for quick visual diagnostics in the panel.

What are the typical contact ratings for industrial load categories?

Typical utilisation category ratings include AC-12: 2 A at 24/110/230 VAC; AC-15: 1 A at 24 VAC and 0.1 A at 230 VAC; DC-13: 0.8 A at 24 VDC, 0.1 A at 110 VDC, and 0.01 A at 230 VDC (per EN IEC 60947-5-1). Always size the relay to the actual load type (resistive vs inductive) and duty.

What are the maximum switching frequency and power limits?

Maximum switching frequency is 15 Hz. Maximum breaking capacity is 125 VA (AC) and 60 W (DC).

How fast does the relay respond?

Maximum response time is 10 ms and maximum drop-out time is 10 ms.

How is it mounted in a cabinet?

It is designed for snap-on mounting to standard DIN rails, including TH35 and G32 (EN 60715).

What are the physical dimensions?

Approximate dimensions are 82 mm (height) × 12 mm (width) × 68 mm (depth), suitable for high-density DIN-rail assemblies.

What type of wiring connections does it use?

It uses screw terminal connections, which are commonly preferred for secure field wiring in industrial control panels.

Does it support bridging for common wiring?

Yes. The module is supplied with a jumper (bridge) and includes a negative bridging plug concept, which can simplify commoning of the coil supply in multi-relay rows (refer to the included jumper category 90960).

What ambient temperature range is it rated for?

The operating temperature range is -25 °C to +60 °C.

What is the expected mechanical and electrical life?

Mechanical life is specified at 20,000,000 cycles, and electrical life is specified at 20,000,000 cycles under the stated conditions (actual life depends on load type, switching energy, and duty cycle). For reference, this product is commonly identified as Murr Elektronik 51140.
